Uganda Gorilla Safari four day break.
A set departure itinerary which combines well with a safari in Tanzania and Kenya. This itinerary starts on Sunday and ends on Wednesday on the following dates: 14 Mar, 4 Apr, 2 May, 13 Jun, 11 Jul, 8 Aug, 5 Sep, 17 Oct, 14 Nov, 5 Dec 2010.
Day 1
You will be met from your plane on arrival in Kigali and set off for Bwindi. Driving through Uganda via the Katuna border you will continue to Bwindi through the Alps of Africa, with the road winding through many hills and valleys, with distant vistas of the impressive volcanoes. Time permitting you’ll stop off to enjoy a guided nature walk in the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies and monkeys before arriving at Bwindi Lodge where you spend the next three nights.
Day 2
In the morning after breakfast you will set out gorilla tracking gradually hiking high into the steep densely forested hills before finally you can cast your eyes on the gorillas which sit quietly camouflaged in the vegetation. Gorilla trekking in Uganda requires stamina and can often take the best part of the day.
Day 3
On your second morning you can either head out gorilla tracking again or go for a more leisurely guided nature walk in the thick forest which is rich in birds, colourful butterflies and agile monkeys. Alternatively you might like to go for a stroll around the lodge or for a walk to visit the nearby communities.
Day 4
After three nights at Bwindi Lodge you will leave after breakfast for Kigali in Rwanda via Kabale and Katuna. On your way to the airport if time permits you will be able to tour the city, visit a local market, some of the pottery projects, or the genocide memorial before your flight.
This itinerary is available from £1,279 per person sharing a twin. It is full board and includes all land transfers, guiding and one gorilla permit (more can be requested at time of booking). The itinerary excludes international airfares and taxes which can be booked directly with Opulent Africa.
